From a normal boy in hostel to the man who is making the country proud. He was from UP where he faced so many problems in his life during his hostel days like getting beaten up with hockey sticks and now he is here in his position due to hard work. During his early days on hostel, Raina, who faced serious bullying which made him to think of quitting hostel and return home. Suicidal thoughts crossed his brain in the past and it was not easy to process initially on why he was being targeted. The reason for the bullying is that some boys were jealous that Raina was getting a lot of attention from cricket coaches. It was a wild atmosphere for Raina in the hostel, which scared him so much and he quit hostel after a year, then rejoined in two months after his elder brother Dinesh secured safety promises from the authorities. Some days to remember while some are to forget. It was a different Raina who came back to hostel and decided to change his anger in to improving his passion, Cricket.
Raina knows that if you play well, you will be selected. There comes one fine day where a call came from Mumbai to play cricket for Air India which Raina consider as his life changing moment. At Air India, Pravin Amre encouraged him a lot and things began to come in place for our All rounder Suresh Raina. In 1999, Raina got a scholarship with Air India who paid him Rs. 10,000 where Raina would send 8,000 to his family, and a STD call would cost him 4 rupees and after 2 minutes he would cut the call. These days where the days where Raina came to know the value of money.
In 2003, Raina went to play club cricket in England where he struggled with English, and had lots of issues on how to use fork or dress up properly, but even though he was struggling, he focused on his career and it was progressing very well for him. During 2005, he made his ODI debut for India, which is indeed the turning point of his career. The IPL was another turning point in Raina's career where he is holding many records. He have scored 300+ runs on all IPL matches and only player to be on the Semi finals for all the season. He is also the first player to hit 3000 IPL runs. He is also the first Indian player to score a century on all format of cricket.
In April 2015, Raina married Priyanka Chaudhary, an IT professional in a bank in Amsterdam. On May 2016, Raina and Priyanka was blessed with a baby girl named Gracia Raina. Overall, Raina is a player who has amazing energy, as well as team spirit. He will be the first one to rush to his team mate to celebrate the victory. From a young hostel boy who was bullied. Raina have indeed came a long way and that god have been really kind to him. Raina, will always be the Man who is born to win.
